In 2013, we started Carrafarm Irish Horses with the purchase of our first Irish Draught horse Bright Like A Diamond (Hugo). Hugo went on to win the Performance Irish Draught Class for 4&5 year olds at Dublin Horse Show in 2015, ridden by Niamh.

We purchased our first brood mare in 2014, the then 2yo Irish Draught filly Pagestown Harmony (April), by the famous Crosstown Dancer ex Liskillen Harmony (Pride of Glenogra). She is a half-sister of HOYS Champion Cob The Comedian.

We bred our first foal in 2017, Carrafarm City of Stars (Stacy) by Watermill Swatch out of our Irish Draught mare A Sky Full of Stars.

We have produced we have produced a number of nice horses over the last few years. We aim to give our horses the best possible start and to teach them perfect manners. We put emphasis on producing horses with excellent temperaments, who are rideable and trainable. We aim to send horses on to their next home with perfect manners, both on the ground and when ridden. We focus on Traditional Irish Horses (TIH), the Irish Draught, the Thoroughbred and the Connemara. We also produce crosses of theses breeds and TIH/Warmblood crosses.

We show horses regularly during the Irish summer showing season and we believe that young stock showing classes are useful part of any young horse’s education, allowing them to get out and experience some of the world in their formative years. We compete at the Balmoral Show and Dublin Horse and lots of smaller agricultural shows throughout the year.

We occasionally have a homebred stock or a ridden horse to sell. If you are looking for an Irish Draught Horse, a Traditional Irish Horse or similar please contact us and we will let you know if we or one of our contacts have a suitable horse.
